THE REPOSITORY AS A CENTRALISED SOURCE OF INFORMATION

By setting up a repository, data management is setting up a centralised source of information – a knowledge base – that is of potential use to everyone in the organisation. This is shown in Figure 10.6. As well as information about the data of the enterprise, many repositories also contain other information that is useful to information systems developers, such as process definitions, business rules and interface definitions.
