ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH POOR-QUALITY DATA

In their report entitled ‘Data Quality and Integrity’, the Butler Group (2004), an independent provider of IT research, analysis and advice, said that ‘businesses have failed and will continue to do so, because they neglect to take seriously the management of data quality and integrity issues.’

For their Global Data Management Survey, PricewaterhouseCoopers (2004) surveyed 452 large and medium-sized companies in the UK, US and Australia. They found that only 34% of the companies surveyed claimed to be ‘very confident’ in the quality of their data.
