Chapter 12. Educating with Prezi

Younger audiences are more likely to be first adopters of applications like Prezi because they don't have ingrained thinking that opposes new ways of doing things. Prezi has garnered an enthusiastic response from students and teachers alike. Recognition of its value in classrooms has caused educators to request special Prezi licenses for them and their students.

In this chapter, I look at the ways in which Prezi is being used in schools and universities to make learning more fun. I survey the special Education licenses that have been created to accommodate both students and teachers and then explore the strategies you can use to make students more successful. In addition, I look at how Prezi is being used at major conferences by thought leaders in many different areas.

Using Prezi in Schools and Universities

It's not just the novelty that attracts students and educators to Prezi. The application presents a new way of presenting ideas. In school, presentations are a way of life. Either the teacher is presenting to students or students are asked to present to the class. Finding something to break the monotony of slide presentations is welcomed. Finding a way to use technology in a whole new way is celebrated. Using Prezi, students can capture ideas and rearrange them to create new paradigms. This also facilitates the growth of discussion and new ideas.
