Why it’s important to be natural

In this chapter we’ll be working on your speaking style. Style is a difficult issue. We admire other people’s style and naturally we want to emulate them. I recommend that you borrow from other people’s structure (the sequence in which they put their information, or how they use signposting, story and so on), but never borrow their style. Copying someone else’s style is hard work, too often comes off as fake and is totally unnecessary! Using your natural style means that you attract people to your own style of working.
