The Big Picture: Creating Story Sequences

It's now time to start refining your story by breaking it down into sequences. Chapters in books indicate a new location or story point. Sequences are like chapters in a film. They break the narrative into manageable sections or modules, making it easier for a group of artists to complete production on a project. Sequential structure makes it easier for solo artists to complete a film as well, as we will see in this chapter.

Sequences are sometimes defined by location. The ‘balcony scene’ in Romeo and Juliet, if filmed, would be regarded as a sequence since all the shots would take place in the same location. But you can't define all sequences by their location because:
