Chapter 3. Capturing & Importing Footage

Once you’ve selected the proper settings for your project, it’s time to begin adding footage to it. Usually, this means getting the video from a tape to your hard drive—a process known as video capture.

In Premiere Pro CS3, all the controls you need for capture are integrated into a single Capture panel. You can control a camera or deck from within the Capture panel, which has built-in presets for controlling numerous devices, including most DV and HD devices. The Capture panel also incorporates tabbed panels for viewing the current capture settings and for logging clips in a batch list.
