Image Aspect Ratios

Aspect ratio refers to the dimensions of the video frame, expressed as a ratio of the width to the height (horizontal and vertical aspects). Most video uses a 4:3 aspect ratio, but with the advent of new video standards, the 16:9 aspect ratio is becoming more common (Figures 18.18 and 18.19).
