Choosing Capture Settings

Before you capture, you must specify certain characteristics of the digitized clips, such as the file format, frame size, frame rate, and so on. The process is much the same as selecting project settings and export settings.

In fact, when capturing from DV, you can use one of the DV project presets to set your capture settings. (If you already have a DV project open, you don’t have to do anything more.) If you’re using a capture card, you’ll probably have to choose the video and audio settings manually, according to the particular card and type of editing you’re doing. Either way, your capture settings and project settings usually match.
