Using Device Control

DV devices can be controlled over the same FireWire cable that delivers the video and audio, and the plug-ins to control most DV cameras and decks come built into Premiere.

If you’re not using a DV setup, device control usually includes two components: a hardware cable to connect your computer to your deck and a software plug-in to put in the Premiere Plug-Ins folder. Consult the documentation that came with your device-control equipment to make sure that the equipment is set up properly.

To enable device control:

1.
Make sure your device-control hardware is connected.
2.
In the Movie Capture window, click the Settings tab. The Settings panel appears.
3.
Do either of the following:
