Chapter 16. Capturing Video

You don’t have to shoot your own video footage to create a program in Premiere. As explained in Chapter 3, “Importing and Managing Clips,” you can import a wide range of digitally stored content, including stills, audio, and, of course, video. Maybe you’ve already started using the files in Premiere’s Sample folder. But chances are, you’re eager to edit your own video footage. Usually, this means getting the video from a tape to your hard drive—a process known as video capture.

In Premiere, all the controls you’ll need for capture are integrated into a single Movie Capture window. You can control a camera or deck from within the capture window, which has built-in presets for controlling most DV cameras and decks. ...
