Exporting to Tape

Whereas Print to Video is designed to present video on-screen, Export to Tape is designed to record video onto tape. Using FireWire or add-on device control, Premiere can activate your deck automatically. You can even choose where on the tape to start recording, if you can provide a timecode number at the start time. Typically, you use a black and coded tape—a tape with a black video signal and timecode.

The following example uses a DV camera as the recording device. Options may vary according to your hardware.

To export to tape:

1.
Do either of the following:
  • To export the program from the timeline, select the Timeline window or Monitor window.

  • To export a clip, open a video clip.
