Considering Output Goals

Your output goal helps determine the settings you choose. Though you’ve thought of it from the beginning of your project (right?), the considerations are worth reviewing.

Videotape

Exporting to tape can be straightforward: Your capture, project, and export settings all match. Video formats demand a lot from your system, however. For DV, your system must meet minimum requirements—but exceeding the minimum is recommended. For an analog to digital capture card, you need to familiarize yourself with the requirements of your hardware. If you’re preparing your videotape for television broadcast, be sure to check with the presenter or a postproduction facility to learn the requirements.
