Exporting an Edit Decision List

As you learned in the introduction, the primary goal of offline editing is to generate an edit decision list, or EDL. An EDL describes your edited program as a list of editing events (Figure 15.40). Exporting an EDL enables you to transfer your offline editing decisions to an online editing controller. Premiere even allows you to export an EDL in formats compatible with several common online-edit controllers. Because these EDL formats come in the form of plug-ins, you can add other Premiere-compatible EDL formats in the future.
