The Fade Control

You can reveal the opacity control for the clips in a superimpose track by expanding the track and selecting the fade switch (see Chapter 5). This reveals a red fade line, or rubber band, control. The video fade line controls the opacity of a clip much the same way that the audio fade line controls the audio gain levels. You can even use most of the same tools and techniques that you use with the audio fade line. The fade adjustment, scissors, and cross-fade tools, for example, all work with the video fade line. But whereas the audio fade line shows normal gain level (100 percent) when centered in its track, the video fade line shows 100 percent opacity when it’s at the top of its track.
