Obsolete Effects

As Premiere’s package of effects has grown and improved, many of the older effects have become obsolete. Some effects have been replaced with newer versions of the same name; similar but superior effects have replaced others. Premiere supports obsolete effects, however, just in case you need to open a project created in Premiere 5. By default, obsolete video effects are contained in a folder named “Obsolete” and are set to be hidden in the Video palette.

To reveal obsolete video effects:

  • From the Video palette’s pull-down menu, choose Show Hidden (Figure 11.2).
