IF YOU ARE A LIVING human being, sooner or later you will die. If you do not die young, you will age (although we age at different rates) and eventually succumb to something. Even if you escape the big killers—cancer, heart disease, diabetes—you will still die of what we are fond of calling “natural causes.” Death is a natural phenomenon that is integral to life. Although science and technology have the potential to dramatically alter the pace and nature of life processes, they will not change the final outcome.
