Team Building and the Four Cs of Team Performance4

One of the key interventions used by organization development (OD) practitioners almost since the field’s inception has been “team building” whose primary purpose is to improve team performance. Over the past several decades, as we have consulted with teams and conducted research on team performance, we have come to the conclusion that there are four factors—“Four Cs”—that must be understood by OD practitioners in order for them to do effective team building.
