SUMMARY

The Gestalt approach to OD has evolved from a humanistic approach to psychotherapy to a present-centered, conscious use of self as an instrument of change. By the very nature of any change, Gestalt provides a range from the open, indirect approach by providing a presence not existing in the system to a focused, direct approach that nudges the system toward a new choice. By holding both approaches to change, we are able to reduce the use of tools and techniques to something within the ground of possibilities while trusting that what needs to emerge will do so.
