We believe that, as a result of our efforts, interoperability will be taken to new, higher levels, and the total cost of ownership of communication systems and solutions will be greatly reduced. In this end state, consumers will be the big winners, as they will be provided with the capability of reaching anyone, anywhere, anytime in the world in more ways, and for less money, than ever before. While this may not lead to immediate changes in the United States, where the investment into the PSTN over the past 100 years is widely estimated at $1 trillion, VoIP will contribute to providing communication services to areas of the globe where access to the PSTN is difficult and expensive. Third-world economies whose modernization has leapfrogged over the industrial revolution will continue leaping toward wireless systems that can provide services to far-flung customers at a fraction of the cost of traditional landline networks. Marshal McLuhan once spoke of a global village; will the new wave of communication technologies reduce our world to a global house?
Enabling this type of interoperability extends beyond working with other vendors; we are looking for opportunities for a broader range of implementations of our software.
