As complex as server virtualization is, if that was all server admins had to worry about, life would be relatively simple—relative to the big picture as it stands, anyway. There is, of course, no rule that says you have to virtualize your entire data center. What you choose to virtualize depends on your objectives. We looked at various objectives in Chapter 1, “To Virtualize or Not to Virtualize?”; we will reexamine them in relation to their respective deployment strategies in Chapter 15, “Laying the Foundation: The Planning Stage.”
