Dial-Up Networking
Windows provides you with two options for accessing UNIX hosts over dial-up connections. One option is to configure your Windows PC to be capable of operating the TCP/IP protocols over a modem connection. This option enables you to run any one of the TCP/IP-based applications outlined so far within this chapter and is typically the route chosen in providing a PC with a connection into the Internet.
An alternative approach is to configure Windows to enable a user with the capability to log on to a remote host.
