Foreword to the Fourth Edition

This book made me happy! If you are already using a SQL-compliant database, or are just starting to learn, I bet this book will make you happy too.

When I first picked up The Practical SQL Handbook, I had been a database consultant for several years, yet I was having trouble getting a moderately complicated query (a “self-join”) to work. I scanned the Table of Contents and immediately found the chapter I needed.
