Function Comparison

Following are SQL functions mentioned in the earlier chapters, divided into three groups. This material is meant to be a starting place, not a final reference. Even when functions look the same, there may be underlying semantic content that makes two apparently identical commands rather different in meaning (for example, the definitions of terms such as expression). Vendors modify existing SQL commands and add new ones as they refine their products; items on this list may not represent the latest version.

In short, this appendix can help you get an idea of the similarities and differences among vendors, but you should consult your system manuals for exact, up-to-date information.
