Learning from TCP Error-Control and Flow-Control Packets
Let’s put retransmission, duplicate ACKs, and the sliding-window mechanism into some context. Here are a few notes to keep in mind when troubleshooting latency issues:
- Retransmission packets
Retransmissions occur because the client has detected that the server is not receiving the data it’s sending. Therefore, depending on the side of the communication you are analyzing, you may never see retransmissions.
