What is a data breach?

Data breaches are the most the critical and confirmed security or privacy incident. These incidents may involve personal or business sensitive information. Storing sensitive data is always governed by the legal definition given by state laws. Data breaches also require notifying the affected individuals or users, regulatory agencies, sometimes credit reporting agencies, and the media.

So far, the Facebook–Cambridge Analytics data scandal was the worst data breach that has occurred in 2018 so far.
