This section is intended to help you get started quickly with programs that were downloaded as source code. The text assumes that the source distribution of the program already supports Linux.
Checking for documentation
The first thing you'll want to do is extract the program's source directory tree. Some programmers use a fairly intricate directory structure to manage their programs and distribute everything, but this depends on the program complexity as well as the number of programmers who worked on the project.
