Configuring a PPP Connection

Connecting to the Internet using Linux is easy. The method by which you connect to your Internet service provider (ISP) via a modem is called the Point-to-Point Protocol, or PPP. If you follow the steps outlined in this chapter, you'll be able to quickly connect to and disconnect from the Internet through your ISP. After you are connected, you can send and retrieve email, download files, read Usenet news, or use a Web browser to surf World Wide Web sites.
