Using the xfd Client to View Font Character Maps
Use the X11 xfd (X font display) client to see all the characters in a font. The font must be made available to your X11 server through the Files section of your system's XF86Config file (described in Chapter 12, "Running and Configuring X," in the section Starting X11). If you're not sure about what font to display, use the xfontsel client or look under the /usr/X11R6/ lib/X11/fonts directory. For example, to display all the available miscellaneous fonts, use the ls command, as follows:
