Using the cardctl Command

Use the cardctl (card control) command to control your PC card slots. You can also use this command to gather information about your PC cards or to load a PC card scheme. A scheme allows you to set the role of your laptop, such as a node on the network instead of dial-up machine. This will, of course, affect the types of cards that are installed in your computer. The default scheme, located under the /var/run directory, is named pcmcia-scheme. Details about using PC card schemes are found in the PCMCIA-HOWTO, in your documentation directory.

Obtaining the Status of PC Cards

To check on the status of your PC card(s), use cardctl's status option like so:

 # cardctl status socket 0: Function 0: card present, ready, battery ...
