Mounting and Unmounting Remote NFS Hard Drives
The network file system, or NFS, was developed by Sun Microsystems to allow file systems to be transparently mounted across a local area network. This means that a hard drive on another computer can be mounted as if it were local to your computer. NFS is an invaluable tool for sharing data between users or in a networked environment, allowing a single file server be responsible for all users'data.
Mounting a file system exported from an NFS server is as easy as mounting a local hard drive partition, and the syntax is almost identical.
