CHARLES F. KETTERING WAS AN INVENTOR, an engineer, a teacher, and an advocate of social change who made a significant impact on the development of American society in the early part of the twentieth century. Born in 1876, Kettering departed the planet in 1958 with more than 140 patents to his credit and having received honorary doctorates from nearly thirty universities.
