The benefit of narrative review

This process has multiple benefits:

  • Early enough to act: The process should happen early in production, meaning the story script is cheap to change and has very little to no impact on the game's production at this stage.
  • Meaningful feedback: Feedback is practical, actionable, and given by experts.
  • Clear direction: Organized feedback on the story means that writers can use it for future decisions. There is no guesswork on why some decisions were made.
  • Invest in the narrative: The team will know the narrative and be invested in it early on. A better understanding of what the narrative is trying to accomplish will benefit game and level design and even art direction.
