Departure

In this act, the hero or protagonist's ordinary world is introduced and the normal routine is shaken when the hero receives a call to go on an adventure. The hero usually refuses the call, but a mentor figure steps in to encourage and advise him:

  1. The call to adventure: The hero is depicted in his ordinary world, leading an ordinary life. Suddenly, some information is received that calls the hero to a journey into the unknown.
  2. Refusal of the call: The hero refuses to give up his ordinary life. It might be because of fear, duty, insecurity...any excuse that holds the hero to his current ordinary world.
  3. Supernatural aid: Once the hero commits to his new mission (consciously or subconsciously), a mentor appears and offers his help. ...
