Test and iterate

No tutorial you create will ever be perfect. As with game mechanics, you have to start somewhere and iron the quirks as you go. If you're struggling to choose between a few different approaches and have access to a big enough pool of test candidates, it's often best to take the extra time to try them all simultaneously on different segments of the player base, then pick the best.
