Compound Camera

Sometimes, a single solution does not cover the entirety of available gameplay scenarios. A compound camera is one that defaults to one of the above solutions but allows players to tweak or alter its behavior. This gives us two distinct options:

  1. A tracking camera that can be manually adjusted or taken control over: Found in many 3D action adventure games that do not depend on ranged combat or platformers such as Super Mario Galaxy. Such a camera requires no agency until players are required to take aim or identify an area of interest that’s outside of their current view.
