STEP 3.4: EXECUTE THE MIGRATION

Step 3.4.0: step initiation

This is the moment the whole project, maybe the whole programme, has been building up to. It is so important that it merits its own step initiation phase.

You should have:

  • a full set of System Retirement Policies, signed off as being complete;

  • Data Transitional Rules signed off and briefed out;

  • a data migration timetable;

  • a set of load programs or scripts tested and ready;

  • Data Stakeholders primed and ready to answer any queries;

  • Legacy Data Stores and Transient Data Stores with data of sufficient quality to migrate;

  • the non-functional aspects agreed, installed and ready for action.
