From the moment a Legacy Data Store is identified as a probable candidate for replacement by the new system, a System Retirement Policy should be initiated. Some data stores will be completely overtaken by new system functionality. Others will be partially overtaken. Even at this early stage it will be clear in the majority of cases where an individual Legacy Data Store sits, however there will be examples where choices will have to be made as to where the data is to be migrated from and against what it will be validated.
