STEP 1.1: ANALYSE LEGACY DATA STORES

For each Legacy Data Store prepare a Legacy Data Store definition form. Traditional business analysis skills are required for this task:

  • examining documentation, data base schemas, file formats;

  • documenting business usage;

  • interviewing Business Domain Experts and Data Store Owners.

In addition, there are the following new requirements:

  • identifying Data Stakeholders;

  • generating initial data quality assessments;

  • creating the questions you will take into Step 1.3 (create first-cut System Retirement Policies).
