WINDOWS OF OPPORTUNITY
Most business processes go in cycles. We all know about the statutory reporting cycle, with the big hiatus at financial year-end when after a mad rush to process as many orders as possible the world stops whilst we wait for the year-end processes to run. But there are other cycles as well. Within those cycles exist the spaces of time when we can get access to the strategic Legacy Data Stores from which we will be getting large amounts of our data. It is quite often the existence of this window that determines the time frame within which we operate. We must have our data ready for the year- or quarter-end.
