Simulating Normal Data

We conclude this chapter in much the same way we concluded Chapter 5. We may sometimes want to generate a simulated sample of random data that conforms to an approximate normal distribution. We could use the Random function as we did in Chapter 5, but JMP provides an even easier method.

To illustrate, we'll use the current data table of 177 two-year-old females and create some simulated data for a normal random variable with a mean and standard deviation matching the recumbent length measurements. Look back at the distribution of BMXRECUM and you'll see that the mean length was 91.06 cm. and the standard deviation was 4.33.
