Methods of Sampling

Chapter 2 also presented several standard approaches to sampling. In an introductory course, it is valuable to recognize that there are different reasonable methods (and by extension a large number of unreasonable methods). It is also valuable to understand that each method carries different risks. In this chapter, we'll restrict the discussion to simple random samples (SRS) and the ways in which sample proportions and sample means tend to vary in different samples from one population.
