Create Application Fields

Scenario/Problem: You need to create field variables for use in creating a new application in the Secure Store Service.

Solution: Use the New-SPSecureStoreApplicationField cmdlet.

When creating a new application for the Secure Store Service, several application fields are needed. These application fields can be created using the New-SPSecureStoreApplicationField cmdlet. The types of fields are as follows:

• Username

• Password

• WindowsUsername

• WindowsPassword

• Key

• Pin

• Generic

Typically, you use the Secure Store Service to provide single sign-on functionality using a dedicated service account that has access to the application. Therefore, the most common field types are WindowsUsername and WindowsPassword
