6.1 Introduction

Efficient utilization of ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) plants depends centrally on the development of an effective and economical system to transport the OTEC output to the locations of power demands. The OTEC system is based on the volumetric availability of bulk ocean temperature gradient at the ocean plant floating location or in close proximity such as on a land base resulting in the production of hydrogen and oxygen through endothermic decomposition of water and the release of nitrogen through air liquefaction.
