Due to an accelerating demand for electric energy, the continually increasing pressure of environmental forces, and the economic factors involved, power systems in the near future will be hybrids of conventional fossil fuels, nuclear plants, gas turbines, hydraulic pumped storage, storage batteries, fuel cells, and/or magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) generators.
