Chapter 20. Using POP3 and IMAP with Postfix

After successfully installing the Postfix software, your mail server should be receiving e-mail messages from both local users and remote users on other mail hosts. However, this only gets the messages to the user mailboxes on the mail server. It is still up to the individual e-mail clients on the mail server to retrieve their own mail from their mailboxes.

Users who have physical access to the mail host can log in to an interactive session such as a console screen or an X Window session. Once logged in to the mail server, users can use a Mail User Agent (MUA) program such as pine, elm, or kmail to access the local mailbox and manage their messages.
