Chapter 19. Using Majordomo with Postfix

Mailing list servers allow users to post messages for large audiences of people to see. They have become popular as a means of communication for people involved with supporting and using many open source software packages. Postfix itself has multiple mailing lists that you can subscribe to if you want to keep current with new Postfix developments and ask questions about Postfix installations.

A popular mailing list server package is Majordomo, originally written by Brent Chapman. It consists of a set of Perl programs that manipulate messages using an aliases lookup table and a system of configuration files and directories for the different mail lists that it handles.
