He was an experienced software designer, presenting the results of weeks of work to his boss. He had worked long days and felt proud of his specification. As he finished his presentation, the Development Director turned to him and said sarcastically ‘So, this is it – do you expect me to approve this?’
Embarrassed and deflated, the designer stared glumly back. The phone rang and the Development Director was called away for the rest of the week. The designer was obsessed with his boss’s remarks and totally unable to concentrate. By the end of the week, he had convinced himself he would never be trusted with another important project and that his only option was to find a new job.
