Summary

In this chapter we have considered how positive psychology enhances our understanding of, and ability to create, powerful working relationships. We have examined what is known about how positive relationships can be created in teams, among temporary workers, in short-lived interactions and by energizing networks. We have found that positive relationships at work can take many different forms; what they share in common is the value they add to the organization. Positive working relationships enhance productivity, the generation of new ideas, problem-solving, information and resource flow, and build social capital. They are also very good for our health.
