External interruptions must be visible. If you are to cut down on interruptions, you first need to have facts about the type and quantity of your interruptions.

Each time you get an external interruption, reach for your To Do Today sheet, and write down a title for the activity that is requested by the interruption. Writing it down removes it from your mind, and it also assures you that it will be thought of in future planning.
