Summary

This chapter looked at various ways in which policies and configuration information can be distributed from the management tool to the different devices in the network. Although each approach was presented in isolation, a practical network is likely to deploy a combination of all these approaches, depending on the nature of policy-capable devices within the network. Even within the IETF policy architecture, the work follows a model that policies are stored in the directory and Policy Decision Points (PDPs) retrieve the policy using LDAP.
